Kyrgyz farmers receive preferential loans worth millions of dollars

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, July 15. As part of the project "Agriculture Financing-12" in Kyrgyzstan, 8,467 rural producers in the country have received preferential loans, Trend reports.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the volume of preferential loans amounted to 3.35 billion soms (about $39.2 million).

In the livestock industry, 6,926 entities received preferential loans in the amount of 2.8 billion soms (about $33.1 million), and in the crop production industry, 1,082 entities received 346.7 million soms (about $4 million).

To note, Aiyl Bank and Eldik Bank are participating in the project implementation with a lending volume of 5 billion soms (about $58.6 million).

Meanwhile, the gross output of agricultural products in Kyrgyzstan amounted to 73.244 billion soms ($850.394 million) from January through May 2024. Production increased by 2.5 percent compared to the same period in 2023.

Livestock products accounted for 90 percent of the overall production volume of agricultural products from January to May this year, with crop production at 6.7 percent, forestry at 0.1 percent, fisheries at 0.4 percent, and services at 2.8 percent.

Farm households and personal subsidiary plots of citizens contributed 93.2 percent to the total production volume.

The growth in the gross output of agricultural products from January to May of the current year was driven by an increase in livestock production. Among the regions, the Chuy region had the largest share (approximately 25 percent) in the overall gross output of agricultural products.
