DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, October 26. A meat and meat products processing facility is set to be built in the technological park of Tajikistan's Khorog city in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, Trend reports.

According to the executive body of state authority of the region, the facility will primarily produce yak meat products. The technology for the facility will be imported from Germany and Austria.

Construction began in March 2024, and the total area of the facility will be 2,600 square meters. Raw materials, mainly yak meat, will be sourced from the Murghob district and other local farms in the region. Once operational, the facility aims to supply the domestic market while also having the potential to export products beyond the country.

The Murghob mountain range offers a climate more suitable for yak breeding compared to other mountainous areas. Notably, on the outskirts of Zorkul Lake, one of the region's most beautiful lakes, there are over nine winter pastures, each capable of supporting up to 100 yaks.

According to the Statistical Agency of Tajikistan, the country's industrial enterprises manufactured products worth 36.3 billion somoni ($3.4 billion) from January through September 2024, up 15.3 percent year-on-year.
