ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, October 19. Citizens of Turkmenistan ranked first in the number of foreigners who obtained residence permits in Türkiye during the period from January through October 2024.
The data obtained by Trend from Türkiye's Presidency of Migration shows that 105,586 citizens of Turkmenistan had residence permits during the mentioned period, which is 10.12 percent of the total number of foreigners (more than 1.043 million people).
According to the data, the most popular city among foreign citizens in Türkiye is Istanbul, with 506,288 people with residence permits. The second place is occupied by Antalya with 120,755 residents, followed by Ankara, where 68,054 people issued residence permits.
Meanwhile, the active growth in the number of foreign citizens with residence permits in Türkiye began in 2018, when their number reached 593,151 people. The peak of this growth was recorded in 2022, when the number of residence permit holders exceeded 1.3 million people.
To note, the total number of persons with residence permits in Türkiye in 2023 was more than 1.1 million, which is a decrease of 18.2 percent compared to the figure in 2022.
