TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, December 16. Uzbekistan and Russia agreed to create direct container traffic between Tashkent and Moscow, Trend reports.

The news came after a discussion involving Russian FESCO transportation company representatives and the leadership of Uzbekistan Railways and the Uzbek Uztemiryulcontainer Company.

During the talks, the companies focused on exploring joint efforts to enhance Uzbekistan's container transportation services.

FESCO intends to participate in the development of transport infrastructure and projects in the field of digitalization of the logistics industry in Uzbekistan.

Meanwhile, since September 2022, FESCO has launched a new service for transporting goods from Japan through China and Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan.

In total, the company transported 8,500 twenty-foot equivalent units to Uzbekistan in nine months—almost the same amount as in 2021.

In October last year, FESCO established Fesco Turan, a subsidiary in Uzbekistan, which is developing container transportation by rail to Uzbekistan from Europe and South Asia.

The company carries out 35 percent of all container transportation to Uzbekistan.

Since the beginning of 2023, the local FESCO Tashkent Shuttle service has delivered more than 7,500 sea containers from Vladivostok to Tashkent.
