TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, June 11. Uzbekistan will exempt fuel, oil, and coal from customs duties for two years, Trend reports.
This stems from a video conference meeting led by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on measures to up the ante on the efficiency of energy resource utilization and ensure the smooth sailing of the sector's energy facilities in the autumn-winter period.
Uzbekistan also offers three-year revolving credits for coal
imports, which were disclosed during the meeting.
To top it all off, the nation intends to boost coal production this
year to fulfill social and population demands while also
guaranteeing the steady functioning of thermal power plants.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan produced 1.3 million tons of coal from January through April 2024. The volume of coal production shows a 7.1 percent decrease year-on-year (1.4 million tons in January–April 2023).
At the same time, the country’s production of coal amounted to 331,100 tons in April 2024.
