Iranian large companies' iron ore concentrate production ramps up

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 25. The production of iron ore concentrate by Iran's ten major companies increased by three percent during seven months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through October 21, 2024) compared to the same period of last year (from March 21 through October 22, 2023).

The data obtained by Trend from the country's Mines & Mining Industries Development and Renovation company shows that Iran's ten large companies produced 28.6 million tons of iron ore concentrate during seven months of the current Iranian year. However, the production of large companies in the same period last year totaled 27.8 million tons.

The report indicates that Gol-Gohar Company produced - 7.26 million tons, Chadormalu Company - 5.08 million tons, Gohar-Zamin Company - 4.69 million tons, Sangan Mining Company-2.57 million tons, Middle East Mine Reconstruction and Development Company - 2.55 million tons of iron ore concentrate.

Moreover, the information added that Iran's Central Iron Ore Company produced 1.97 million tons, OPAL Parsian sangan - 1.68 million tons, Sanabad - 1.55 million tons, Sabanur - 950,000 tons, and Jalalabad - 279,000 tons of iron ore concentrate.

Meanwhile, the report showed that 15.4 million tons of iron ore were produced during the seven months. Iron ore production decreased by 5 percent compared to the same period last year (16.1 million tons).

To note, Iran can produce an average of 100 million tons of iron ore concentrate per year. Iron ore concentrate is used in steel production. The potential of steel production in Iran is about 40 million tons per year.
