BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 21. The export of iron ore pellets and concentrates from Iran amounted to 11.3 million tons for the eight months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through November 20, 2024) with a total value of $898 million, Trend reports via the Iranian steel producers' association.
According to the statistics, Iran's exports of iron ore pellets and concentrates decreased by 12 percent in value and increased by 5 percent in weight during eight months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through November 20, 2024) compared to the same period last year (from March 21 through November 21, 2023).
Statistics show that Iran produced about 10.8 million tons of iron ore pellets and concentrates worth about $1.03 billion during eight months of the last Iranian year (from March 21 through November 21, 2023).
The information notes that Iran's exports of iron ore pellets totaled 6.88 million tons worth $576 million during the eight months. This is 8.9 percent less in value and 9 percent more in weight compared to the same period last year. In the same period last year, Iran's iron ore pellet exports totaled 6.34 million tons worth $632 million.
Moreover, the statistics added that Iran's iron ore concentrate exports stood at 4.45 million tons worth $322 million during the eight months. This was down 18 percent in value and up 0.2 percent in weight terms compared to the same period last year. In the same period last year, Iran exported 4.42 million tons of iron ore concentrate worth $393 million.
Iran produces on average about 50 million tons of iron ore pellets per year.
However, Iran is capable of producing an average of 100 million tons of iron ore concentrate per year.
To note, Iran's exports of Iranian iron ore pellets and concentrates last year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024) totaled about 17.2 million tons with a total value of $1.7 billion. Last year, Iran's exports of iron ore pellets and concentrates increased by 125 percent in value and 160 percent in weight compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2022, through March 20, 2023).
