By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Iran will launch new flights to different destinations in Europe within the next few months, Deputy Head of Iran 's Civil Aviation Organization Mohammad Khodakarami said.
Increasing the number of flights by both domestic and foreign airlines in international routes is not a problem, Iran 's IRNA news agency quoted Khodakarami as saying July 7.
The Civil Aviation Organization is planning to update its memorandums of understanding with other countries in order to boost the number of weekly flights with equal shares of flights for the two sides, he added.
Some 65 percent of regional and international flights are operated by domestic airlines, he noted.
Greece's Aegean Airline has announced that it will launch non-stop flight services between Tehran and Athens as of July 23.
Khodakarami said in April that European airlines seek to increase flights to Iran.
A German airline has recently booked flights to Iran, he said, adding that the ceiling of flights to the country is 14 flights per week.
"A Greece airline is planning to launch three weekly flights to Iran. Moreover, Alitalia is seeking to increase flights to Iran to five flights per week."
Turkish Airlines and Air Asia have announced readiness to increase flights to the country, he noted.
