Iran's car output reached 555, 954 units in the first half of the current year, the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA) reported.
The figure indicating a 13.9 percent increase year on year, made Iran the world's 18th biggest car manufacturer in the period.
The Islamic Republic manufactured 496,982 sedans and 58,972 commercial vehicles in the first half of 2015, according to the OICA.
Iran shared some 1.2 percent of the total car production in the world, which was 45.602 million.
During the six-month period 34.56 million of sedans as well as 11.04 million of commercial vehicles were manufactured by carmakers in the world. The world's vehicle production has increased by 0.5 percent year on year.
China was the biggest car manufacturer in the world with 12.095 million output in the six-month period, followed by US (6.12 million), Japan (4.65 million), Germany (3.08 million), South Korea (2.32 million) and India (2.04 million).
Mexico with 1.81 million of vehicle production, Spain (1.46 million), Brazil (1.27 million) and Canada (1.09 million) took the next places among the top ten car manufacturers in the world.
Slovenia registered the highest production growth with 50.8 percent increase y/y, followed by Finland (47.9 percent increase), Italy (43.1 percent increase) and South Africa (22.4 percent).
The Islamic Republic ranked sixth in the world in terms of output growth, according to the OICA. Iran manufactured 1.13 million vehicles in the past Iranian fiscal year, which ended on March 20, showing 53 percent growth compared to its preceding year.
The 2014 production statistics by the OICA indicate Iran 's auto production increased by 46.7 percent in the 12-month period.
