Iran would increase the gas output from the South Pars gas field by 100 million cubic meters per day (mcm/d) by early 2017 and reach the Qatar's output level, said Iran's oil minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh.
Zanganeh also said that it's impossible to reach Qatar's cumulative output from South Pars.
"As of now, Iran's cumulative output from South Pars stands at 1 trillion cubic meters (tcm), while Qatar's reached 2.4 tcm," Shaha quoted Iran's Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh as saying Aug.26.
Currently Iran produces 430 mcm/d from this joint field.
"The country plans to add 100 mcm/d more to the production level by the end of this current fiscal year (FY) or early next FY," he said.
The South Pars is the world's biggest gas field with 30 trillion cubic meters of gas reserves, of which a this is in Iran's territory.
Iran plans to complete South Pars project by 2021 and increase the gas output from this field to about 800 mcm/d.
