Iran’s power usage hit a historic high of 55.442 GW on July 30, but decreased to 53.06 GW on Aug. 1, Energy Ministry’s official website reported Wednesday.
“However, Tuesday’s usage was 4 GW more than the same day of last year,” the report said Aug. 2.
Energy Ministry has warned citizens to use less power to prevent electricity outage.
According to the latest weekly report of Energy Ministry, Iran generated 110.451 terawatt hours of electricity in four months of current fiscal year, which started on March 21, about 7 percent more than the same period in last fiscal year. Iran exported 3.222 tWh (a 47 percent growth Y/Y) and imported 1.591 tWh (a 1 percent decline Y/Y) of electricity in this period.
The actual generation capacity of Iran’s power plants stands at 60.298 GW, but above 11 percent of Iran’s generated net electricity is lost in transmission and distribution process.
Iran’s power storage capacity is also about 1 GW.
