Iran exported 8.7 million tons of petrochemical products worth $4.9 billion in the first four months of the current Iranian fiscal year (started on March 21), figures by the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration show.
According to the figures, the export of Iran’s petrochemical products, including hydrocarbon and LPG products rose over 4 months to July 22, registering a 14 percent rise in value.
However, the exports witnessed a 0.5 percent decrease in tonnage compared to the same corresponding period last year.
Some 353,000 tons of chemical industry products worth $708 million were exported during the period, making a 29 percent and 24 percent growth in value and weight, compared to last year.
The report added that petroleum-based products accounted for 1.4 million tons of the exports with a value of $337 million. This showed a 20 percent and 16 percent rise in value and tonnage compared to the same period in the preceding year.
