The Iranian government does not intend to abolish the currency exchange rate, according to which $1 equals 42,000 Iranian rials, Chairman of Iran's Planning and Budget Organization Mohammad Baqer Nobakht said.
Nobakht made the remarks at a ceremony of signing an agreement on allocation of 30 trillion rials (about $714 million) from the banks’ reserves for the restoration of flood-affected areas, Trend reports referring to Tasnim News Agency.
According to the report of the committee on the restoration of flooded areas, the damage of 380 trillion rials (about $9.04 billion) was caused to infrastructure and people’s property, Nobakht added. In his words, 230 trillion rials (about $ 5.47 billion) will be allocated from the state funds, and 150 trillion rials (about $3.57 billion) - through various loans.
Considering the currency exchange rate in Iran, according to which is $1 is 42,000 rials, it is possible to bring only the necessary products to the country, he added. He said that the government will continue to pursue the policy of allocating $42,000 for the main products.
About 77 people died, more than 1,000 people were injured and four people went missing within one month since March 18 as a result of floods in Iran.
