Türkiye voices cargo volume handled by its Aliaga port

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 18. Türkiye's port of Aliaga handled 36.2 million tons of cargo from January through May 2024, the statement of Türkiye's Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure said, Trend reports.

According to the information, about 1.8 million tons of cargo were transported from the port of Aliaga by vessels under the flag of Türkiye and 34.4 million tons of cargo were transported by vessels under the flags of other countries.

Meanwhile, a total of 2.5 million tons of transit cargo were transported from the port of Aliaga from January through May 2024.

However, in June 2024, the ports of Türkiye handled 32.1 million tons of cargo. During this period, cargo traffic to domestic ports by Turkish-flagged vessels amounted to 2.4 million tons.

“Cargo traffic of vessels under the flags of other countries to Turkish ports amounted to 29.6 million tons,” the statement of the ministry reads.

Moreover, in June 2024, about 5.9 million tons of transit cargo were transported from the ports of Türkiye.

The ministry noted that Türkiye's ports received 204 million tons of cargo from January through June 2024.

“The cargo handling by vessels under the Turkish flag amounted to 14.8 million tons, and by vessels under the flags of other countries, cargo transportation to the ports of Türkiye amounted to 189.2 million tons,” the information notes.

The statement adds that a total of 34.4 million tons of transit cargo were transported from the ports of Türkiye from January through June 2024.

Furthermore, in June of this year, the ports of Türkiye accepted 5,543 vessels.

During the mentioned period, the number of vessels accepted in the ports of Türkiye under the flags of other countries amounted to 3,517, and under the flag of Türkiye - 2,026.

The ports of Türkiye received 29,315 vessels from January through June 2024.

To note, during this time, vessels under the flags of other countries accepted by Turkish ports amounted to 19,790, while vessels under the Turkish flag amounted to 5,525.
