The automatic train control system of the Thales international industrial group will significantly improve the economic and technical characteristics of the Baku Metro lines, technical director of Thales International Azerbaijan Mikhail Malinovsky told Trend.
According to Malinovsky, Thales is the world leader in the automation of train traffic control in both the metro and railways.
"Together with the management and specialists of the Baku Metro, we have started a phased implementation of a modern automatic train control system on the ‘purple’ line,” he said.
“In the future, the automatic train control system will significantly improve the economic and technical characteristics of the line, significantly reduce energy consumption, increase the average speed and shorten the interval between trains, making the journey more comfortable for passengers through optimal and smooth acceleration and deceleration of trains,” the technical director noted.
Besides, according to him, the modernization and implementation of innovative automation and communication systems will ensure the safety of train traffic, regulation of their speed, management of routes and schedules.
“We also took the first step towards modernizing the old control systems on the ‘red’ and ‘green’ lines and introduced a modern computer blocking system at the depot and at the Bakmil station,” added Malinovsky.
