BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 15. The Turkish Port of Gemlik transshipped 1.6 million tons of cargo from January through February 2023, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Türkiye said, Trend reports citing TurkicWorld.
According to the ministry, ships flying the Turkish flag handled 179,368 tons, while vessels under the flags of other countries transferred 1.4 million tons of freight.
"In the reporting period, the Gemlik port delivered 55,509 tons of transit cargo," the ministry said.
Totally, Turkish ports handled 27.76 million tons of freight in February 2023.
In the reporting period, ships flying the flag of Türkiye transshipped 2.2 million tons, whereas ships under the flags of other countries equaled 25.3 million tons.
In February 2023, the ports of Türkiye delivered 5.6 million tons of transit cargo.
A total of 59.6 million tons of freight were transferred by Turkish ports in the first two months of 2023.
During this period, cargo traffic by ships under the Turkish flag amounted to 4.15 million tons, whilst by ships under the flags of other countries – 55.49 million tons.
From January through February 2023, Turkish ports transshipped 12.1 million tons of transit cargo.
