ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 30. Representatives of Kazakhstan and the European Union discussed bilateral cooperation between the two parties in the field of civil aviation and within the framework of interaction on the ICAO platform, Trend reports.

The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the International Civil Aviation Organization, Timur Tlegenov, held a meeting with the Permanent Representative of the European Union to ICAO, Delfine Micho Nodé.

During the meeting, the strategic nature of Kazakhstan’s interaction with the European Union, one of Kazakhstan's largest trading partners, was emphasized.

Delfine Micho Nodé particularly highlighted the importance of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the European Union on certain aspects of air transport ("Horizontal Agreement") signed by both parties in October this year in Luxembourg, which, in her opinion, will strengthen Kazakhstan's economic cooperation with the EU.

The prospects for cooperation between Kazakhstan and the EU in various projects (Act-SAF, Green Development, etc.) of mutual interest were also discussed.

As a result of the conversation, the parties agreed to establish cooperation on a wide range of issues that are planned to be included in the agenda of the upcoming 42nd session of the ICAO Assembly in the fall of 2025.

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations that sets international standards for civil aviation and coordinates its development to improve safety and efficiency. In 1992, Kazakhstan signed the Convention on International Civil Aviation by a resolution of the Supreme Soviet. According to Article 37, Kazakhstan is obligated to cooperate in ensuring the highest possible degree of uniformity of rules.
