ASTANA, Kazakhstan, January 16. The volume of
cargo transportation by rail between Kazakhstan and China exceeded
32 million tons, setting a historical record, according to the
results of 2024,Trend reports via the Ministry of Transport of
Kazakhstan.
This was reported by the Committee for Railway and Water Transport
of the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan's exports
increased by 1 million tons, reaching 13.7 million tons. The main
export cargos include iron and non-ferrous ores, ferrous and
non-ferrous metals, grain cargos, and others.
The Ministry also stated that imports grew by five percent, while
transit transportation through Kazakhstan increased by 19 percent,
totaling 15.3 million tons. Container transit to Europe grew by 43
percent.
To note, an important factor in this growth was the opening of the
Kazakhstani terminal at the International Dry Port of Xi'an. In
2024, over 300 container trains passed through this terminal and
the port of Aktau, which is 30 times more than in 2023.
