BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 25. The volume of foreign direct investment attracted by Italy to the economy of Azerbaijan amounted to $6.8 million last year.

The data obtained by Trend from the Central Bank shows that compared to the 2023 figure, investments from this country into the economy of Azerbaijan last year increased by $5.9 million or 7.9 times.

In the reporting year, the share of investments from Italy in the total volume of foreign direct investments in Azerbaijan amounted to 0.1 percent.

In turn, Azerbaijan invested $72.3 million in the Italian economy last year, which is $38.9 million or 2.2 times more than in 2023.

The share of Azerbaijani investments in Italy in the total volume of foreign direct investments amounted to 4.1 percent.

In 2023, the volume of foreign direct investment from Italy to Azerbaijan amounted to $865,000, and the volume of investment from Azerbaijan to the country in question amounted to $33.4 million.

To note, foreign direct investment in the economy of Azerbaijan amounted to $7.04 billion in 2024. This is $388.1 million or 5.83 percent more than in 2023.

At the same time, the volume of foreign direct investment directed from Azerbaijan to foreign economies during the reporting year amounted to $1.7 billion, which is $1.3 billion or 43.3 percent less than the figure for 2023.
