BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 27. Azerbaijan's investments in Belgium's economy saw a sharp decline in 2024, with the country contributing just $2 million.
Data obtained by Trend from the Central Bank of Azerbaijan indicates that this marks a significant decrease of $17 million, or 9.5 times lower than the investment of $19 million in 2023.
In terms of total foreign direct investment (FDI), Azerbaijan's investments in Belgium made up just 0.1 percent of the overall share.
As a comparison, in 2023, Azerbaijan invested around $19 million in Belgium.
Meanwhile, Azerbaijan's economy saw over $7 billion in foreign direct investment in 2024, reflecting a growth of $388.1 million, or 5.83 percent, compared to 2023.
However, Azerbaijan's foreign direct investments directed abroad in the same year amounted to $1.8 billion, which is a decrease of $1.4 billion, or 43.3 percent, from 2023.
