ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 5. On the instructions of the President of Kazakhstan, the implementation of a project for the construction of a polyethylene production plant has begun, said Askhat Khassenov, Chairman of the Board of JSC NC "KazMunayGas" at a Government meeting, Trend reports.
According to Khassenov, two infrastructure projects will be
implemented alongside this: a gas separation complex and main
pipelines.
"The total cost of the three projects will amount to approximately
$11 billion. These are direct investments from KMG (KazMunayGas)
and its partners. All investment decisions have been made. Thanks
to the support of the Government, some excessive requirements of
construction standards were removed, allowing KMG and the investors
of the 'Polyethylene' project to make the necessary investment
decisions on time. However, there is an open issue regarding the
financing of the gas separation complex project. Acceptable
conditions are being considered with the Development Bank of
Kazakhstan," said Askhat Khassenov.
Today, a government meeting is taking place under the chairmanship of Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov. The agenda of the meeting includes the development of the chemical and petrochemical industries in the country.
