BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 25. The pace of construction in the Karabakh economic region has accelerated from January through June 2025, with the total area of newly commissioned residential buildings reaching 43,102 square meters.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Statistics Committee indicates that this marks an increase of 27,300 square meters or 2.7 times compared to the same period in 2024.
In the region’s districts, commissioned housing areas included 13,380 square meters in Aghjabadi (2.6 times more), 4,702 square meters in Aghdam (4.6 times more), 13,520 square meters in Barda (2.5 times more), 5,992 square meters in Fuzuli (2.9 times more), and 5,508 square meters in Tartar (2.5 times more). Data for Khankendi, Aghdara, Khojaly, Khojavend, and Shusha districts were not provided.
Investments in the Karabakh economic region during the first six months totaled 8.57 billion manat ($5 billion), with 97.3 percent, or 8.35 billion manat ($4.9 billion), allocated to construction and installation works.
Across Azerbaijan, a total of 1.83 million square meters of residential buildings were commissioned in all property categories, 2.6 times more than the 1.12 million square meters recorded in the previous year. Individual residential and garden houses accounted for 90.2 percent, or 1.65 million square meters, of this total. Of the commissioned housing, 6,645 square meters were built by state enterprises and 1.73 million square meters by non-state enterprises.
