TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, September 19. Uzbekistan is expected to meet its future electricity needs without significant deficits, Trend reports, citing PwC’s latest data.
In 2023, the country produced 78.0 TWh of electricity and consumed 81.0 TWh. By 2024, production is forecast at 81.5 TWh, slightly exceeding consumption, which is expected to reach 80.8 TWh. For 2025, both production and consumption are projected at approximately 86.7 TWh and 86.3 TWh, respectively. By 2030, production and consumption are expected to stabilize around 105.0 TWh and 103.4 TWh.
Despite the projected balance, experts recommend that Uzbekistan continue developing new renewable energy capacities, including solar and wind, to ensure long-term energy security and reduce reliance on traditional sources. The Ministry of Energy emphasizes the country’s steady electricity demand and the need for additional generating capacity to support future growth, highlighting the importance of sustainable energy development programs.
These advancements strategically align Uzbekistan as a nation equipped to address its escalating energy demands, simultaneously fostering avenues for capital infusion in sustainable energy initiatives that underpin long-term resilience and economic expansion.
