ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, October 14. The Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the UN in Vienna, Ambassador Hemra Ammannazarov, met with Robert Floyd, Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), and discussed issues related to strengthening global security and nuclear non-proliferation, Trend reports via the Turkmen Embassy in Vienna.

In the course of the meeting, Robert Floyd recalled his 2024 meeting with the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhammedov, in Ashgabat and praised Turkmenistan’s ongoing commitment to international peace and security. The Turkmen delegation reaffirmed the country’s principled stance on nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation, consistent with its permanent neutrality and active role in the Central Asian Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone Treaty.

The parties also discussed upcoming anniversary events, including the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality in 2025 and the 30th anniversary of the CTBT in 2026, exploring opportunities for joint commemorations. Additionally, they reviewed Turkmenistan’s contribution to the CTBT monitoring system, focusing on the status and planned upgrades of Primary Seismic Station 44 (PS44).

The meeting underscored the strengthening partnership between Turkmenistan and the CTBTO and their shared commitment to achieving a nuclear-weapon-free world and enhancing international security.
