TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, November 21. Uzbekistan plans to commission a new 100 MW gas-piston power plant by the end of this year at the Tashkent Thermal Center, Trend reports via the country's Ministry of Energy.

Once operational, the facility is expected to create 50 new jobs while generating approximately 876 million kWh of electricity and 784,000 Gcal of thermal energy annually. The project is also anticipated to reduce natural gas consumption by around 15 million cubic meters per year.

According to the ministry, the plant will have the capacity to supply electricity to roughly 365,000 households and provide heating to 58,000 households.

In parallel with its broader efforts to modernize the energy sector, Uzbekistan commissioned two new gas turbine units with a combined capacity of 64 MW at a thermal power plant in 2024, resulting in a reduction of annual pollutant emissions by 200 tons.
