In January-August 2013, actual revenues to the state budget of Azerbaijan totaled 12.890.1 billion manat (34.4 percent of GDP), or 17.3 percent more compared to the same period of last year, the government told Trend on Friday.
State budget expenditures increased by 18.8 percent and amounted to 11.623.2 billion manat (31.1 percent of GDP). The budget surplus for January-August amounted to 1.266.9 billion manat or 3.4 percent of GDP. It slightly increased (1.266.6 billion manat) compared to the same period of 2012.
In the structure of revenues, 34.8 percent (4.486.6 billion manat) was provided by the Ministry of Taxes. Revenues from customs duties and taxes totaled 887.8 million manat (with a weight of 6.9 percent), from other sources - 7.515.7 billion manat (58.3 percent). Tax collections increased by 7.3 percent, customs charges - by 14.8 percent, and revenue from other sources - by 24.5 percent compared to January-August of last year.
During the reporting period, 1.712 billion manat was received from the collection of VAT, which is 13.3 percent of total income, profit taxes totaled 1.731.1 billion manat (13.4 percent), income tax - 536.9 million manat ( 4.2 percent), excise tax - 395.8 million (3.1 percent), property tax - 77.6 million manat (0.6 percent), land tax - 20.1 million manat (0.2 percent), tax on mineral resources - 80.9 million manat (0.6 percent), taxes on foreign economic activity - 440.9 million manat (3.4 percent).
Some 1.184.9 billion manat (with a weight of 10.2 percent) from the budget was spent for social security and protection of the population in January-August, 808.4 million manat (7 percent) - for education, 366.1 million manat (3.1 percent) - health care, 588.8 million manat (5.1 percent) - maintenance of the prosecution, security, law enforcement, judicial bodies, 5.305.8 billion manat (45.6 percent) - investments in the economy.
Around 19 percent (2.211.5 billion manat) of public expenditure was spent on payment of salaries, pensions and benefits.
The official exchange rate is 0,7845 AZN/USD on Oct. 5.
