Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with Chairman of the management board of Turkey’s Calik Holding A.S. company Ahmet Calik, the Turkmen Altyn Asyr TV channel reported Oct. 18.
The sides discussed possibility of expanding business ties, in particular, considering the outlined plans for comprehensive modernization of the electricity infrastructure of Turkmenistan, and increase in the export of Turkmen electricity, the report said.
Ahmet Calik also informed the Turkmen president about the progress of work on bringing the urea plant in Garabogaz city (Balkan region, Turkmenistan) to the design capacity and promoting a number of other joint projects, including the construction of an international medical and cosmetology center in Ashgabat. The businessman stressed that his company will responsibly approach the fulfillment of partnership obligations.
Calik Holding has recently completed a number of projects on the construction of an international sea port in the city of Turkmenbashi, an urea plant in the city of Garabogaz and a combined cycle power plant in the city of Mary.
It was earlier reported that Turkey’s Calik Holding A.S. company expressed interest in participating in the construction of the 500kV power transmission line along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline, which is being built.
The construction of the Turkmen section of TAPI pipeline began in December 2015, and preparatory work is underway in the Afghan and Pakistani sections.
Turkmenistan plans to produce electricity up to 27.4 billion kilowatt hours by 2020 and to increase this volume up to 35.5 billion kilowatt hours by 2030.
