The Hegmataneh petrochemical plant in Hamadan province (western Iran) will be commissioned during Iran Government Week (August 23-28), Head of Hamadan Province Industry, Mine and Trade Organization Hamid Reza Matin said, Trend reports citing the organization’s website.
According to Matin, due to the spread of the coronavirus in Iran, the import of equipment for the Hegmatane petrochemical plant has been delayed.
Matin added that the Hegmataneh plant will annually supply 70,000 tons of PVC grade for production of medicines.
The official said that the plant will provide 22 percent of Iran's need in the PVC grade for medicines.
The construction and commissioning of this plant cost 7.15 trillion rials (about $170 million), he said adding that with the commissioning of the plant, 235 people will be employed.
"With the increase in the domestic production of PVC grade, a large amount of money will be saved due to import substitution," he said.
The official said that at present, this product is produced at the Jam Petrochemical Company in the south of Iran, and 8 percent of Iran's needs are met by this company.
