Oil pumping via the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline, which was suspended at the initiative of the Russian side, is scheduled to resume today, a source Azerbaijan State Oil Company SOCAR told Trend.
The source noted that pumping was suspended for three days at the request of the Russian side to carry out preventive maintenance on the territory of the Russian Federation.
According to statistics, over 79,000 tons of oil were pumped through the pipeline in August 2019.
"Under the contract, in 2019, Azerbaijan plans to pump 1.3 million tons of oil via the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline, and in order to replenish the volumes due to pipelines' shutdown, it is planned to pump a little more than 165,000 tons in September," the source said.
In March 2019, SOCAR began scheduled repairs on the Azerbaijani section of the line from Baku to the Shirvanovka point on the Azerbaijani-Russian border. In early July, oil pumping through the pipeline was resumed.
Azerbaijan has been transporting oil on this route since 1997.
