Ahmad Mohammadi Managing Director of National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC) said the company's oil production continues steadily and without interruption, Trend reports via IRNA.
“In the first days of the coronavirus outbreak in the country, an emergency committee was formed to manage the the oil-rich southern regions,” Mohammadi said.
“We have categorized the measures in two areas - sustainability and continuity, so thatthe production continues safely, without any interruptions," he said.
"On other hand, countering the disease, paying attention to health and human resource management were on the agenda,” he added.
Mohammadi also said the company hasg given vacations to its employees that had the coronavirus symptoms.
He said some employees were working remotely, while others worked in shifts.
"We tried to follow the instructions of the National Committee on Combating Coronavirus,” said Mohammadi.
He went on to point out that the meeting of the emergency committee for the fight against coronavirus is being held regularly.
The World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 a pandemic on March 11. Some sources claim the coronavirus outbreak started as early as November 2019.
Iran continues to apply strict measures to contain the further infection spread. Reportedly, the disease was brought to Iran by a businessman from Iran's Qom city, who went on a business trip to China, despite official warnings. The man died later from the disease.
The Islamic Republic only announced its first infections and deaths from the coronavirus on Feb. 19.
