The potential of Iran's power transmission lines to neighboring countries is about 1.8 megawatt-hours at present, said Mohsen Tarztalab, Managing Director of Iran’s Thermal Power Plants Holding Company, Trend reports citing the company’s website.
Tarztalab emphasized that almost, the potential of the power transmission lines in Iran is used to the maximum.
The director added that there are currently 570 units of thermal power plants in Iran. About 68 percent of Iran's thermal power plants are owned by the private sector and the rest by the public sector. It is planned to transfer 20 percent of the public sector share to the private sector.
“The researches show that about 6.5 billion euro worth of foreign currency has been spent on Iran's electricity sector over the past 15 years,” he said.
