BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, May 11. Passenger transportation in Kyrgyzstan reached 164.4 million people from January through March 2025, which is a 15.9 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024 (141.8 million people).
The data obtained by Trend from the National Statistical Committee shows that the number of passengers transported increased by 5.1 million people, or 10.4 percent, in March 2025 year-on-year, and by 5.8 percent compared to the previous month.
The majority of passengers were carried by ground transport, including railways (65,500 people), buses (153.1 million people), taxis (9.2 million people), and trolleybuses (1.6 million people). Air transport accounted for about 285,200 passengers during the reporting period.
Moreover, the total passenger turnover for all modes of transport grew by 174.2 million passenger-kilometers, or 7.3 percent year-on-year, reaching 2.5 billion passenger-kilometers in the first quarter of 2025. In March 2025 alone, passenger turnover rose by 10.8 percent compared to March 2024, and by 27.8 percent compared to February 2025.
At the same time, a total of 13.290 million tons of cargo were transported by all modes of transport in Kyrgyzstan in the first quarter of 2025, showing a 10.9 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
The freight turnover of all modes of transport in Kyrgyzstan totaled 828 million ton-kilometers in January–March 2025, which is an increase of 75.5 million ton-kilometers, or 10 percent, compared to the same period in 2024
