Tajikistan notes decline in poverty rate

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, September 7. In Tajikistan, the poverty rate has decreased from 83 percent to 22.5 percent during the years of independence, Trend reports.

It was said by Zavki Zavkizoda, Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan, during the meeting dedicated to the celebration of Independence Day in Tajikistan.

He noted that, regardless of external influences, due to the successful implementation of state strategies and programs during the years of state independence, the country’s GDP has increased 64 times, GDP per capita has increased 32 times, and the population's monetary incomes have risen by 101 times.

According to him, during the period of independence, 3,430 new educational institutions and 2,827 new healthcare facilities were built.

Moreover, 400 kilometers of roads and more than 2,000 megawatts of new energy capacity have been constructed.

Independence in Tajikistan was declared on September 9, 1991. This year marks the 32nd anniversary of independence for the country.
