TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, January 19. Uzbekistan has signed a memorandum of understanding in the field of Earth remote sensing with Chinese Academy of Sciences' Institute of Information Research, Trend reports.
The document was signed during the visit of Uzbekcosmos Agency delegation led by director Shukhrat Kadirov to China on January 15-20 this year.
The parties also signed a memorandum of understanding opening new opportunities for cooperation in the field of education and personnel training.
Furthermore, the delegation held a number of meetings with the heads of leading Chinese companies specializing in space systems and technologies.
The Uzbek delegation held productive negotiations with representatives of China National Space Administration (CNSA), China Great Wall Industrial Corporation (CGWIC) and China Electronic Technology Group (CETC).
During the meetings the prospects of bilateral cooperation in such areas as education and personnel training, development of geographic information systems, creation of ground and space infrastructure were discussed in detail.
In the field of training, plans and initiatives for deeper interaction between educational institutions, including opportunities for student and scientific exchanges, were discussed. In the field of space systems and technologies, prospects for the creation and development of geographic information system, satellite communication and remote sensing systems and other mutually beneficial areas of cooperation were discussed.
Meanwhile, Uzbekcosmos plans to introduce InSAR (Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar) technologies to all strategically important sites across Uzbekistan.
This was discussed at a meeting with Uzbekcosmos and representatives of Japanese Synspective company specializing in space monitoring and radar technology.
