Iran's Sangan iron ore complex ramps up production

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 21. The production of iron ore minerals at Sangan Iron Ore Complex in Iran increased by 4 percent during the six months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through September 21, 2024) compared to the same period last year (from March 21 through September 22, 2023).

The data obtained by Trend from the country's Organization for Development and Modernization of Mines and Mining Industries (Isidro) shows that 12.6 million tons of iron ore minerals were extracted from the Sangan iron ore complex during the six months. During the same period last year, the Sangan iron ore complex produced 12.1 million tons of iron ore minerals.

Moreover, the Sangan iron ore complex produced 385,000 tons of pellets during the 6 months. This is an increase of 5.8 percent over the planned production for six months. While for six months the complex was planned to produce 364,000 tons of iron ore pellets.

To note, the Sangan Iron Ore Complex is located in the Khaf district of Khorasan Razavi province, near Iran's border with Afghanistan. This complex operates under the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO).
