Iranian Sabanour Mining and Industrial Development Company's iron ore output soars

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 14. Iron ore production by the Iranian Sabanour Mining and Industrial Development Company increased by 13 percent during eight months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through November 2024) compared to the same period of last year (from March 21 through November 21, 2023), the executive director of Iran's Sabanour Industrial and Mining Development Company Alireza Mousavi said, Trend reports.

According to him, iron ore concentrate production in Sabanour Mining and Industrial Development Company amounted to 1.08 million tons during eight months. The company traded 616,000 tons of iron ore concentrate during the eight months.

Mousavi added that the production of iron ore pellets in the company amounted to 405,000 tons during the eight months. This is 36 percent more than in the same period last year. The company marketed about 236,000 tons of iron ore pellets during the mentioned period.

The official stated that the company has recently conducted exploration operations in several provinces. During the operations, it was ascertained that Golali's iron ore reserves amounted to 131 million tons.

Iran can produce an average of 100 million tons of iron ore concentrate per year. Iron ore concentrate is used in steel production. Iran's steel production potential is about 40 million tons per year.
