Iran's Institute for International Energy Studies (IIES) and South Korean Energy Economics Institute (KEEI) held a joint workshop to discuss energy policies of the two countries.
Mohammad Mottaghi, deputy head of the IIES told the oil ministry’s SHANA news agency that the third edition of the workshop was held in two sections including energy efficiency and the governments’ operational plans in this regard.
The South Korean side briefed the government’s operational plans and policies in the field of energy supply, he said, adding that Iran’s IIES is modeling energy consumption efficiency.
Mottaghi said that the prospects, opportunities and potentials of mutual cooperation in gas sector also discussed in the round table.
He said that periodical meetings of the two Institutes will continue to aim at cooperation in the field of strategic studies in the field of energy.
At the same time, the capacity of the both sides will be presented to each other and the results of the studies will be submitted to governments and private sector of the country, which is active in the oil industry, Mottaghi added.
KEEI is Asia's first and world's 12th leading institute in the field of energy studies which focuses on strategies studies on energy economy and energy macro-policies for the Korean government.
Based on Iran’s policies for “Reform of Energy Consumption”, energy intensity should be halved till 2021 compared to amount of the base year 2011. In this way the cumulative energy saving in the country is estimated to reach around 1,230 million ton which is approximately 5 times of the primary energy supplied to the country in 2009.
