ASTANA, Kazakhstan, January 14. The development of e-commerce in Kazakhstan has led to the creation of more than 300,000 jobs, said Minister of Trade and Integration Arman Shakkaliev at a government meeting chaired by the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Olzhas Bektanov, Trend reports.
During the meeting, the minister also noted that in Kazakhstan, the e-commerce market volume in the past year amounted to 3.2 trillion tenge ($6.08 billion), and its share of total retail trade reached 14.5 percent. The sector has created more than 300,000 jobs, and labor productivity has increased by more than 30 percent compared to traditional store and market sales.
To note, e-commerce occupies an important segment of the global economy. In 2024, more than 2.7 billion people made purchases online, and total sales amounted to around $6.3 trillion.
