BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 13. Azerbaijani consumers spent 671.1 million manat ($394.7 million) on alcoholic beverages and tobacco products from January through March 2025.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Statistical Committee indicates that this represents an increase of 2.7 million manat ($1.58 million) or 0.4 percent compared to the same period last year.
The share of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products in the overall retail trade turnover stood at 4.6 percent during the reporting period.
Moreover, in the first quarter, retail sales in Azerbaijan amounted to 14.6 billion manat ($8.5 million), including 8.1 billion manat ($4.7 million) in food products, beverages, and tobacco products, and 6.5 billion manat ($3.8 million)in non-food items. Compared to the same period in 2024, retail trade turnover saw a real increase of 3.8 percent, with food products, beverages, and tobacco showing a rise of 1.7 percent, and non-food goods increasing by 6.3 percent.
