Azerbaijan, Baku, Nov. 6 / Trend A. Akhundov /
The treasury operations in Azerbaijan will be fully automated by late 2012, Azerbaijani Deputy Finance Minister Azer Bayramov said at the international workshop "Public Sector Accounting" in the "Pem PAL" program in Baku today.
"Azerbaijan is implementing a program for several years to automate the treasury, which is under completion," he said. "Around 90 percent of the budget expenditures are covered by this system. We are confident that in the near future the country will fully pass to this automated treasury system."
He said that the automation of the Treasury will increase the efficiency of fulfilling the operations, limit external interference and enhance the analysis of operations. This is an important step within the implementation of the country's "e-government".
"This is the first and most important condition to automate a mechanism of controlling all budgetary processes from forecasting to execution," Bayramov said.
He stressed that the work on the legal framework is almost completed.
"This process takes much time and efforts," he said. "The matter rests in automating about 100 operations."
Head of the department on economy and financial-credit policy of the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers Shahin Sadikhov said that the Azerbaijani treasury system has already reached a level to share its experience with other countries, in particular, with the CIS countries and Eastern Europe.
