Georgia’s external public debt grew by $193 million over the year, Trend reports referring to Ministry of Finance of Georgia.
In July 2019, the external debt of the Georgian government amounted to $5.36 billion compared to $5.16 billion in the same period of the last year. In turn, the country's external debt decreased by $77 million compared to June 2019, when it amounted to $5.43 billion.
The largest creditors of Georgia among international organizations include Asian Development Bank (ADB), World Bank's International Development Association (IDA), International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), and European Investment Bank (EIB).
In particular, Georgia's debt to ADB amounted to $1.14 billion, to IDA - $998.3 million, to IBRD - $896.4 million, to EIB - $461.6 million, and to International Monetary Fund (IMF) - $20.6 million.
As for the countries, Georgia owes most to Germany ($312.85 million), France ($234.03 million) and Japan ($215.78 million).
According to the report of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, the debt of Georgia to Azerbaijan amounted $7,269,000.
Georgia’s debt to Turkey and Russia has not changed compared to the previous month. By the end of July 2019, the country's external public debt to Turkey was $13,098,000 and to Russia - $56,478,000.
