About 9.6 percent of the active society in Iran lost their jobs over the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), Trend reports citing the statistics of the Statistical Center of Iran.
According to the statistics, the unemployment rate decreased by 1.1 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 through March 19, 2020).
“Of the Iranian population, 62.4 million people were aged 15 and over in the last Iranian year. About 41.3 percent or 25.7 million of them were considered active in economic activities,” the statistics said.
Also, the active society in Iran was 23.2 million people during last Iranian year, and this figure decreased by more than 1 million people compared to the preceding Iranian year, the statistics said.
According to the statistics, 49.3 percent of the active society belongs to the services sector, 33.3 percent to the industrial sector and 17.4 percent to the agricultural sector.
