ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 14. Kazatomprom and the largest electricity producer in Slovakia - the company Slovenské elektrárne a.s. (SEAS) - have signed a memorandum of cooperation in the nuclear industry, Trend reports via Kazatomprom.
According to the information, the memorandum confirms the parties’ intention to establish supplies of natural uranium concentrate and potential supplies of uranium dioxide (UO₂) for the needs of Slovak nuclear power plants, as well as to identify possible directions for further partnership.
This is the first official document signed between Kazatomprom and SEAS, marking a new stage of interaction.
“With the signing of this memorandum, we are making an important step towards strengthening cooperation with our European partners. Slovakia is one of the countries where nuclear energy plays a key role in ensuring sustainable energy supply. We expect that this agreement will serve as a foundation for building strong and mutually beneficial relationships between our companies,” noted Meirzhan Yusupov, Chairman of the Management Board of Kazatomprom.
Slovenské elektrárne, a.s. (SEAS) is the largest electricity producer in Slovakia and one of the biggest in Central and Eastern Europe. The company operates various power plants, including nuclear, hydro, and photovoltaic plants, and focuses on producing carbon-neutral electricity. In May 2025, the Energetický a průmyslový holding (EPH) acquired full ownership of SEAS, with the Slovak state retaining a 34% stake.
