BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 16. Urea (nitrogen fertilizers) output at the SOCAR Carbamide plant in Sumgayit from January through September 2024 amounted to 472,800 tons, which is 61.3 percent more than in the same period of 2023.
The data obtained by Trend from the country's State Statistics Committee shows that 54,100 tons of urea were stored in SOCAR Carbamide's warehouses on October 1.
Meanwhile, this enterprise, which has been operating in Azerbaijan for just over five years, produced 454,000 tons of urea in 2023, of which 148,800 tons were purchased by EU countries.
Over the entire period of operation, this enterprise produced almost 2.5 million tons of nitrogen fertilizers (urea), of which about 85 percent was exported.
SOCAR Carbamide, which is a resident of Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park, plays a crucial role in the development of Azerbaijan's agriculture and non-oil exports.
The plant, commissioned in January 2019, plays an important role in reducing dependence on nitrogen fertilizer imports and meeting local farmers' demand for these products.
