BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 28. The growing demand for low-carbon hydrogen makes the issue of the growth rate of electrolyzer production relevant globally, the expert at European energy transition and hydrogen consultancy AFRY Helge Barlen said, Trend reports.
"According to the latest scenarios for achieving zero greenhouse gas emissions, global demand for low-carbon hydrogen will be 500-600 million tons per year by 2050. And the electrolyzer projects announced globally are on track to meet these targets, but it is the actual implementation that matters," Barlen states.
He estimates that by 2040, the additional capacity of electrolyzers in the world could reach 50-100 gigawatts, with rapid growth in China and Europe.
