BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 26. The number of passenger planes serving international flights via Iran's airports increased by 16 percent during the nine months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through December 20, 2024) compared to the same period last year (from March 21 through December 21, 2023), the statistics of Iran's Airports Company said, Trend reports.

According to the statistics, the number of passenger airplanes flying through Iran's airports totaled 23,800 during nine months. Meanwhile, during the same period last year, the figure for international flights through Iran's airports stood at 20,500.

To note, there are currently 54 civilian airports in operation across Iran. Among these, 14 are classified as international airports. Iranian airports facilitate the transit of approximately 30 million travelers each year.
