BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 2. The unemployment rate among individuals aged 15 and older in Iran declined by 0.5 percent in the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through March 20, 2025), compared to the previous period (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024).
Data obtained by Trend from the Statistical Center of Iran indicates that 2.03 million (2,029,544) people were unemployed, accounting for 7.6 percent of the economically active population.
Among the youth, unemployment remained notable, with 528,289 people between the ages of 15 and 24 and 1.4 million (1,406,650) people aged 18 to 35 reported as jobless.
The statistics show that the number of unemployed individuals with higher education stood at 856,520, marking a 0.5 percent increase from the year before.
Overall, the country’s population aged 15 and above totaled 65,338,280. Of this figure, 38,520,310 individuals were classified as economically inactive, while 26,817,970 were part of the economically active population.
