Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Javad Zarif met with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Tehran. During the meeting, the two sides discussed important issues of bilateral, regional, and international relations.
Welcoming the Chinese Foreign Minister, the Iranian Foreign Minister noted the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Iran and China and said that the history of relations between the two great civilizations of Iran and China dates back to centuries ago, Trend reports citing MFA official website.
“Signing of the roadmap of the Iran-China 25-year Cooperation Program or Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, the Islamic Republic of Iran and the People's Republic of China will further strengthen the relations between the two countries,” said Zarif.
Zarif appreciated China's position and actions during the sanctions against Iran. Emphasizing the need for the United States to return to its obligations in JCPOA, he added that lifting sanctions against Iran could pave the way for the full implementation of the deal.
The Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated that the signing of the Iran-China 25-year Cooperation Program shows Beijing's will to regulate relations at the highest possible level.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Ei, who arrived in Tehran yesterday, met President Hassan Rouhani and Ali Larijani, an adviser to the Supreme Leader.
