BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 27. The number of passenger planes operating international flights through Iran's airports grew by 16 percent during 10 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024 through January 19, 2025) compared to the same period last year (from March 21, 2023 through January 20, 2024).

Data obtained by Trend from the Iran Airports Company shows that 26,200 passenger planes operated international flights via the airports in the reporting period, against 22,600 planes in 10 months of the last Iranian year.

To note, there are currently 54 civilian airports in operation across Iran. Among these, 14 are classified as international airports. Iranian airports facilitate the transit of approximately 30 million travelers each year.
