Georgia will spend approximately 30 - 40 million Georgian lari ($9 - $13 million) annually on damaged buildings replacement, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze said, Trend reports via Georgian media.
“Unfortunately, we have up to 10,000 damaged buildings in the capital, which we are starting to replace in stages. This will allow us to improve the living conditions of the people living there, and to get modern, renovated architecture, instead of old, Soviet-era buildings,” Tbilisi Mayor said.
“Damaged buildings will be demolished, while the municipality pays for the rent of the families on a temporary lease for two years. We plan to spend about 25 million Georgian lari ($8 million) on this in 2022,” Kaladze added.
